I had meant to post these pictures yesterday when it was still August, but alas, I was too tired. So here it is, already September and a fun full month ahead of us.
Jerod started back into school yesterday and has a fairly busy schedule. This first semester of his Psychiatric Technician program is exactly the same as the first semester of the LVN (Licenced Vocational Nurse) program, so it's a little intense. He has super long days on Mondays and Fridays from 6:45 am to 3:00 pm. In a few weeks these will be his clinical days where he works at the hospital, but for now they are his lab days where they are learning new skills. Yesterday he learned about Universal Precautions and how to wash your hands. I know that probably sounds pretty boring, but I share it because it's a little nostalgic for me since it was the exact same thing I first learned in my lab for my nursing program.
This summer (wow, it's weird to think that summer is over) Elijah and I went on a couple of "swim days" with the other moms in our church. Our friend Wendy held a couple of swim days at her pool and also has a beautiful golden retriever named Baxter which Elijah absolutely loves.
Just the other day Elijah was eating some pasta while I was finishing up the dishes. I come back to clean him up and this is what I discovered.
Another new skill that Elijah has recently acquired is drinking from a straw. He has never really gotten the hang of sippy cups, so he usually drinks straight from a regular cup. However, I have a water bottle with a straw in it (for all you moms who delivered at El Camino Hospital, it's their water bottle...the coolest water bottle ever) and so he has since learned to drink from that too. I even got a new kids water bottle for Elijah that also has a straw, but he still prefers mine. Okay, so that was kind of a long intro for the following picture. We had just come back from getting our free Oprah meal at KFC when Eli wanted to drink from my soda. I put my drink into a different container and put water in the soda container so he could drink out of it. So here's a picture of him drinking from a straw.
