Ever since Josiah came to visit in July, Nemo has become his favorite movie. Actually, I don't know if he realizes that other movies exist because we only let him watch Signing Time, a few other short educational DVDs from the library, and Nemo. When Josiah first arrived I think he might have been wearing a Nemo shirt or had a book with Nemo in it or something. At any rate, Elijah had heard Josiah talking about Nemo and started mimicking him. Eli had never watched the movie before but simply wanted to say things his cousin did. Finally, at the end of our time together with the boys, we decided to give them a treat and let them watch Finding Nemo together. Elijah didn't last more than 20 or 30 minutes before he fell asleep, but he didn't forget that there was a movie now associated with the name Nemo and asked to watch it again later. Soon it became something he would ask for every day and thus began the struggle of curtailing his TV watching and having to say “no” constantly and deal with the tantrums. Jerod's mom even found some cute little toy fish at the store that are orange and blue, so now they have become his bath toys and he loves nothing more than to play with “Dory and Nemo.” He will even strand one of the fish at the top of the bathtub and cry out “help” and have the other come to the rescue.
