When we lived in Zimbabwe we became close friends with Shannon vanAswegen. She has since come to southern California to attend University and we have had the privilege of seeing her a tad more often than we would have if she were still back in Zim.
Since this past weekend was a three-day weekend for President's Day, we decided it would be fun to spend it together. Shannon flew up, spent Thursday evening through Sunday afternoon with us and we all enjoyed catching up on life, reminiscing and making new memories. Some of the fun we got to share
in included watching Naruto, playing games with friends (bet you didn't know Jerod would love for cheese to grow on trees ;-) drinking tea, eating Cinnabon middles for the first time, and spending a lovely day in
San Francisco.
Shannon is truly a special friend; one I feel so blessed to have in my life. She constantly amazes me with her growth in the Lord, her quality of relationships with others, her desire to learn and diligence to her studies, as well as an overall love for life which I cherish. I am forever changed because of her presence in my life.

Our family at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco
Aren't they such a cute pair?! I really wish Auntie Shanz could be around all the time.
When Eli got really cold, we decided to buy him a hat (albeit a very expensive one) on the wharf to help him stay warm. Out of all the hats, he decided he wanted the one that looked like a cat.
Tea at Crown and Crumpet (a very posh tea place with yummy tea and scones)
Sisters - well, according to one vendor at the wharf. I would love to be Shannon's sister.
